Application

Liberates mannose from a variety of synthetic and natural α-mannosides.

?-Mannosidase can be used to liberate mannose from a variety of synthetic and natural ?-mannosides. It has also been used in a study to investigate the causes of neurodegeneration in mucolipidosis II ?knock-in? mice.

?-Mannosidase from Canavalia ensiformis (Jack bean) has been used:for the digestion of neutral glycans.to remove O-glycans from recombinant ?-glucosidasefor the inhibition of renal fibroblasts proliferation

Biochem/physiol Actions

??Mannosidase has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of B-lymphocytes.

α-Mannosidase is an acid hydrolase which is located in plant vacuoles and is thought to be involved with the turnover of N-linked glycoproteins.

?-Mannosidase cleaves near ?1?2-, ?1?3- and ?1?6-linked mannose residues.

General description

??Mannosidase from Canavalia ensiformis is a tretamer composed of two subunits that each contain two components at 44 and 66 kDa.

Lysosomal ?-mannosidases are class II mannosidases that belong to glycoside hydrolase family 38 and play an important role in the degradation of asparagine-linked carbohydrates of glycoproteins.

?-Mannosidase is an exo-glycosidase and an inc metalloenzyme.
