Application

Hydroquinone has been used as reagent for the conversion of DNA by sodium bisulfite. It has also been used as a chemical in Timm?s staining.

General description

Hydroquinone is a phenolic compound, which is naturally found in coffee, tea and wine. It is used in photographic, chemical and cosmetic industries. Hydroquinone is used as a skin lightening agent. It is topically applied to treat melisma, freckles and senile lentigines. Hydroquinone is linked to exogenous ochronosis, dermatitis and skin irritation. It inhibits melanogenesis.
