Mannose may be used to study the effects of exogenous mannose on in vitro processes such as glycosylation. cis-Golgi glycoproteins have high mannose and are prone to Endoglycosidase H or peptideN-glycosidase (N-glycanase) digestion.


General description


Mannose is an aldohexose carbohydrate. It is isomer of glucose with varying C2 position configuration. Majority of mannose is synthesised from its epimer glucose. It is part of the glycans present in endoplasmic reticulum (ER)/Golgi.
