Application

?-glucuronidase activity was determined by the amount of phenolphthalein released from 0.01 M henolphthalein ?-D-glucuronide.

Phenolphthalein ?-D-glucuronide has been used as a substrate for the detection of ?-D-glucuronidase activity in fecal bacteria.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phenolphthalein ?-D-glucuronide is a chromogenic substrate for ?-glucuronidase enzyme and the resultant colored product of the reaction is measured at 552 nm.
