Biochem/physiol Actions

The monocyte chemoattractant proteins (MCPs) chemo attract and activate monocytes, activated T cells, basophils, natural killer (NK) cells and immature dendritic cells. It has a role in the survival and proliferation of microglia. Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2) has been shown to activate GTPases like cell division control protein 42 (CDC42) and Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (Rac1).

General description

The monocyte chemoattractant proteins (MCPs) belong to the C-C chemokine family, and signal through C-C motif chemokine receptor-2 (CCR2) and, with the exception of MCP-1 or chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2) , other CCR receptors. The MCP family cross reacts across species. The gene encoding CCL2 is localized on mouse chromosome 11. Recombinant murine JE is a 13.8kDa protein containing 125 amino acid residues including the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in the CC chemokines.

Physical form

Lyophilized with no additives.

Reconstitution

Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
