Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is a 28 amino acid polypeptide vasodilator involved in water, sodium, potassium homeostasis. ANP mediates its actions via three receptor types: two guanylyl cyclase receptors know as NPR1 and NPR2 and a natriuretic peptide clearance receptor (NPR3/NPRC). ANP (4-23) is a selective agonist of natriuretic peptide receptor subtype NPR-C.
