PKC? (protein kinase C ?) is required for T cell activation and proliferation. In presence of TCR (T cell receptor) stimulation, it is responsible for activation of NF-AT (nuclear factor of activated T-cells), NF-?B (nuclear factor ? B) and AP1 (adaptor-related protein complex 1). It might be a target for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. PKC? is needed for fat-mediated insulin resistance in skeletal muscle.
General description
