PKC? (protein kinase C ?) is a atypical PKC and works independent of Ca2+ and diacylglycerol. It is involved in MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinase)-induced nuclear factor ? B activation. It also stabilizes DNA mismatch-repair proteins, participates in laeukemic cell differentiation, cell migration and chemotaxis. PKC? have tumour suppressor as well as oncogenic properties. Upregulation of PKC? causes apoptosis in ovarian carcinoma cells. On the other hand, absence of PKC? decreases tumorigenic activity in a colon cancer mouse model.
