Deoxygalactonojirimycin hydrochloride has been used as an ?-galactosidase A inhibitor to assess the enzymatic activity of ?-galactosidase A. It has also been used as an ?-galactosidase A inhibitor to study its effects on the mRNA levels in human embryonic kidney (HEK) cells and hippocampal neurons.
