With use of baculovirus expression vector systems (BEVS), more researchers are culturing insect cells. HyClone™ insect cell screened fetal bovine serum (FBS) is based on our highest quality Defined FBS. The serum is screened to identify lots that offer excellent performance with BEVS. This screening involves comparing cell yield and viability using insect cells grown in various test lots for four passages. These test lots are compared with a control lot that has demonstrated the ability to support robust growth of insect cells. Insect Cell Screened FBS is filtered through serial 40nm (0.04µm) pore size-rated filters. Before dispensing, each lot of serum is pooled using true pool technology to ensure uniformity and consistency between bottles
