β-Naphthoxyacetic acid (BNOA) is a phytohormone used as a plant growth regulator on tomatoes and strawberries.
2-Naphthoxyacetic acid has been used as a component for embryo cell suspension maintenance medium. It has been used as a medium component for inducing somatic embryogenesis in grapevine.
Biochem/physiol Actions
2-Naphthoxyacetic acid promotes seed germination and early flowering in tomatoes. 2-naphthoxyacetic acid effectively improves fruit size and color. However, it is also regarded slightly hazardous and may contribute to mutagenesis.
