?-Galactosidase from bovine testes was used for coupling to Sepharose.
Biochem/physiol Actions
?-galactosidase cleaves lactose into its monosaccharide components, glucose and galactose. It also catalyses the transglycosylation of glucose into allolactose, the inducer of ?-galactosidase, in a feedback loop.
