SJ000291942
Biochem/physiol Actions
SJ000291942 is an activator of Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) signaling with an EC50 value ﹤ 1 µM. Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs) are a group of growth factors and cytokines were originally discovered by their ability to induce the formation of bone and cartilage, but are now considered to constitute a group of pivotal morphogenetic signals, orchestrating tissue architecture throughout the body. SJ000291942 was shown to ventralize zebrafish embryos, activate SMAD1/5/8 phosphorylation, and induce the differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts to osteoblasts in manner consistent with BMP4 activation.
