VU0071063 is also known as [7-(4-(tert-butyl)benzyl)-1,3-dimethyl-1H-purine-2,6(3H,7H)-dione]. It serves as a major compound for examining?-cell physiology, KATPchannel gating and a new chemical scaffold for evolving enhanced activators with medicinal chemistry.
VU0071063 is a potent activator of Kir6.2/SUR1 KATP channels (EC50 = 10.3 µM). VU0071063 reversibly inhibits glucose-stimulated calcium influx in mouse β-islet cells. The compound VU0071063 has no affect on Kir6.2/SUR2A channels.
