Work with PCR and other molecular biology techniques often requires a contamination-free workplace. The UV source, controlled by a timer (0 - 24 hrs), denatures unwanted DNA on reagents as well as pipetting and laboratory aids in 5 to 30 minutes. The up to 8mm thick glass walls also provide safe protection against UV and isotope radiation such as 32P. By using the UV/air-cleaner, freedom from contamination can also be guaranteed during the work process. Here, the air is continuously circulated with a circulation volume of 14m3/hr directly past a covered UV lamp (254nm). During breaks, the direct-radiation UV lamp can also be used to decontaminate the work surface and tools. .
